The studio covered weddings, portraits and product, but its work lived scattered across social networks that compress and crop the photos. They needed a portfolio of their own where the image looks as it should and where a client could request a quote without leaving the site.
The challenge
For a photographer, the website IS the showcase. Loading dozens of high-res images without the page crawling is the underlying problem: a slow gallery scares off exactly the people who came to judge visual quality. And with no clear path to a quote, visitors looked at photos and left without getting in touch.
What we did
We designed and custom-built a fast, image-first portfolio.
- Masonry gallery that respects each photo’s framing
- Lightbox to view large without reloading the page
- Categories by session type (wedding, portrait, product)
- Session quote system with type, date and details
- A restrained design that lets the photos take the lead
- A smooth mobile version to swipe the gallery with a thumb
How we built it
The key was image performance: modern formats, sizes served per device, progressive lazy loading and placeholders so scrolling stays smooth even with a full gallery. The gallery opens in under a second.
We custom-built the quote form, woven into the flow so requesting a quote feels natural right after seeing the work. Technical SEO with per-category metadata and structured data to capture searches like “wedding photographer.” AA accessibility on navigation, contrast and image alt text.
Results
The gallery opens almost instantly despite the visual weight, visitors spend more time exploring the work, and a solid share end up requesting a quote instead of just looking. The portfolio turns admiration into real inquiries.
